The breach of contract lawsuit that Talgo filed against the State of Wisconsin is still in litigation. If the state would have honored the contract, the equipment pictured below would now be running in Hiawatha Service.

Talgo Train Finally Arrives in Madison

“Oregon 2,” a Talgo Series 8 train, moves across the Lake Monona causeway in Madison enroute to Pueblo, Co for testing on Nov. 30, 2012. In the background is the State Capitol. The Talgo equipment, including two sets ordered by Wisconsin, was built at its Milwaukee plant. Wisconsin’s equipment was originally planned for use on Milwaukee-Madison service, but Gov. Walker refused $810 million in Federal funding for the service. The State of Wisconsin has refused to finish paying for their equipment after the Legislature pulled funding for a maintenance facility. The future of the Wisconsin sets are now tied up in Dane County Circuit Court.
